Thankful

I try to not reserve being thankful to just once per year, but I know that I do not always tell those who I am thankful for that, so I figure this is as good a time as any.  I wrote an entry last year about what I was thankful for, so why not continue with the tradition this year?

I am thankful each and every day for Amber.  I have the most amazing wife.  I know that every husband says that, but she tolerates me and Kaitlyn, and that is something special.  She is also an amazing mother with patience that is unmatched.

I am thankful for Kaitlyn.  She keeps me entertained and on my toes.  She sometimes drives me crazy and can be stubborn (although I hear I am quite stubborn as well).  I am thankful that she loves to learn, and that she is very caring and compassionate, and that she sees the good in everyone.  She never judges anyone, and cares about everyone.

I am thankful for our families.  They support us and come to visit, and really do not give us too hard of a time that we rarely make it out-of-town.

I am thankful for our friends.  We have a great group of friends who are with us through thick and thin.  They all seem to love Kaitlyn, and that is amazing.

I am thankful for Asperger’s.  Asperger’s has given Amber and I a chance to understand Kaitlyn better than we ever imagined.  It gives us reasons for things, but is never an excuse for anything.  Kaitlyn’s Asperger’s has opened my eyes to a world that I knew was there, but sometimes did not see.  Kaitlyn’s Asperger’s has helped me learn things about myself as well, and I am a better person for it.

I am thankful to everyone who reads this blog.  I try to keep it entertaining and real.  Rarely do I filter myself on here.  What you read is real, and what is really happening, both the good and the bad.  Having a child with Asperger’s is not always pretty, and I have made it a point to not try to pretty things up to make anyone feel better.  Asperger’s is real, and what you read on here is what really happened, and how we really felt about it.  I am passionate about our lives, and I am passionate about sharing our story.  Thank you for reading, and continuing to read what I write.

Happy Thanksgiving.
