A few days ago, I wrote about some ugly words that have invaded our vocabulary, and admitted that I used them far too often, and was not proud of it. Since then, I’ve been trying to come up with something that is more than just hollow words. I decided to borrow an idea from some co-workers (they have a “swear jar”).
Beginning May 1, I am going to keep track of how many times I use those words, and I am going to fine myself a dollar each time. At the end of the month, I will post a tally on here. The funds will accumulate for the remainder of the year, and at that time, I will find a charity to donate my funds to (I bet it will be autism-related!).
I challenge and encourage everyone to join me in this effort. If you need help designating a charity, I will be happy to offer some suggestions.
