Every Wednesday and Friday at camp, Kaitlyn gets to have water play day. In the afternoons, right as the temps creep up near 100, the staff breaks out the hoses, sprinklers, and Slip ‘n Slides. Kaitlyn has a blast.
Today, as we were walking into camp, I looked over and saw that the slide was already out. So I made Kaitlyn what I thought was a pretty fair offer: she would work for me today, and I would stay and have water play day. I even tried to give her my car keys. She was having none of it.
We went back and forth for a minute or two, with each of my requests for a trade being turned down. And so I asked her why she gets to have all the fun and I have to go to work. Her response? “Because you are old!”
Ah, the (honest) things that come out of her mouth. It’s going to be a good day, even for this old man.
